This Wednesday, We'll Still Be Playing GTA IV

There will be no new Xbox LIVE Arcade title this week, and we anticipate all Xbox 360 controllers will be busy with the game. We'll be playing as soon as we get our hands on the game, hopefully very, very soon.

GTA IV or not I am still *EXPECTING* War World. No excuse for no new releases this week >.>

It was going to come out by the end of Aug 07. Now it is almost a year overdue. This isn't this sites fault but it's almost grounds for an 87.23 trillion dollar lawsuit against MS This is causing me severe emotional distress. I realize a judge would NEVER award me with 87.23 trillion in a lawsuit (gotta aim high) but i'm sure if I sued over the delayed release of War world I logically assume I'd be walking away with a cool 32.18 trillion.

Wow I could almost buy a 486 processor to upgrade my wii with with that money!

i tell you I have a normal xbox 360 (not modded). It's just that some retailers already sold the game today in Germany. I purchased the game for 55€ (ca 86$).

Well that's reckless! Not everyone will be playing GT-frikken-A IV! Some of us are A.) too young, B.) have strong morals, C.) too broke, and/or D.) completely not interested in that game!

Why hold back an Arcade title solely based on the release of one game?? That is so wrong, especially with so many (actually good) announced Arcade titles that have been patiently waiting for release!

I swear I'm completely put off about buying GTA simply because everyone has this sickish cult-like veneration for this game, and it's not even out yet!
Man, it's just a game!

Sorry for the rant. I'm not so much upset about there not being an Arcade game this week as I am about the actual reason stated above for that being the case!
At least give us non-"digital thugs" War World finally!!

To : SlimShady Have the German rating groups given GTA IV a rating? I still can’t believe that you can’t get Gears of War or Dead Rising in Germany. I know a bunch of Australians that are planning on importing the US version because they are un-happy with the watered down AU version.

To : DHX Might I suggest Beautiful Katamari. It is pretty much the polar opposite of GTA. Also there is Simpson’s Road Rage on xbox one. It is like a GTA game but no-one gets hurt when they get hit. Have a retro game party instead of getting GTA IV,Check out King of Kong : a Fist Full of Quarters on Xbox Live movies and get Pac Man CE.

Morally I don’t have a problem with a game about gangsters, I am more likely to have objections to games that glorify a war that I morally object to.

I think the best strategy is to vote with your wallet, set child accounts, check to see what games kids are playing.

We definitely understand the complaints about the lack of an XBLA release this week. There are certainly people who won't be playing GTA IV, and would want to see an alternative on the Arcade, but to be fair, any game released this week will not get a fair chance to reach everyone who the publisher might want to reach. There are a ton of games out there to still try, and a publisher who might have released a game this week will probably be thrilled to have the entire public's undivided attention when they do launch.

I have not interest in GTA IV. <shrug> It's just not for me. Count me among the chorus of folks disappointed in no XBLA title.

The vast majority (if not all?) of XBLA titles are not rated 'M', and yet the concern is the publishers will be affected by competition in the form of an 'M' rated retail title? Does this tell us that the vast majority of xbox360 owners (or at least, those who buy XBLA games) are consumers of 'M' content/games?

Even movies counter program - when that big action thriller comes out, there's a romantic comedy or serious drama that'll open that same weekend to pick up those who aren't interested.

I can't recall - did we suffer the same fate when that Halo title came out? This is just as bad, in my opinion, as the wednesdays when some form of DLC add-on is considered the release for the week.

At least the concern is noted and appreciated. Maybe we'll get a slew of multiple release wednesdays to make up for it. :-)

I find it rather hilarous AND rather lame that there will be no Xbox Live Arcade Game this Wensday.

Yes, you can count me among those who will NOT be playing Grand Theft Auto 4 this week. Not everybody likes the series, you know?

And btw, was something like this done for Halo 3? Or Gear of War? Or Call of Duty 4? I find it kind of doubtful that GTA4 is going to do better then Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4...and even if it does...so what?

First Nintendo puts up ONE Virtual Console game this week and then Microsoft puts on zero. Man, people are being very LAZY this week...

Jake, yes the USK has rated GTA IV with "No clearance for youths" [Keine Jugendfreigabe], meaning the title may not be sold to people under 18. Gears and Dead Rising were completely denied a rating and therefore not published, that's also true.

Dead Rising was also banned in the meantime, meaning that it may NOT BE SOLD ANYMORE, even to people older than 18 and you may not even sell your copy privately if you own it. Keeping an already acquired copy is still legal.

And yes, many stores in Germany broke street date on GTA IV yesterday. Sadly not the ones in my town. Meh. I was told: "We haven't even received it yet" with a stack of games in red 18+ casings behind him. Hmmm.

Not shipping an arcade game this week probably had more to do with no developer wanting to compete with GTA the day or two of the launch. They would rather wait a week than try and get out of the GTA IV blackhole of media attention.

The PS3 version is not region locked. First non hand-held console since the Turbo Duo to not be region locked.

Dead Rising was the reason why I got a Xbox 360 and Gears is my favorite FPS. It is a shame. If they ever made an Xbox Original version of Stubs The Zombie it would probably not make pass the German USK board.

I think it's only fair. Imagine you are the developer of an xbox live arcade game, and in your first week of selling (wich is pretty critical according to major nelsons weekly Top-Tens) 70-90% of the gamers are playing something else and will propably don't even take a closer look at your game.

@Fadobo - I don't think 70-90% is anywhere near reasonable, unless you meant other games in general.

19 million xbox360 consoles have been sold out there (as of the last NPD #s). Halo3 had sold about 8 million copies by January, after being out just over a full calendar quarter. Sure it sold half of that in the first day or two, but c'mon, the hyperbole everyone is using is a bit much.

Many of us don't play either series. There was an excellent opportunity to "counter-program" here with something lighter and more family friendly - certainly something not rated 'M'.

even though GTA4 is out there should have still been a game because not everyone buys games on the day of release and seeing as they know shops will run dry of the game there should still be a XBl game out.

Im I the only one that thinks this game sucks. Niko moves like my grandmother, he looks around like he blind the cars drive like tanks. The game it self is put together great but the game play is horrible.
