No fair.

Nothing like getting calls in the middle of a nice dinner with the girlfriend from a few different friends who randomly meet up inside of an Xbox limo on the way to In-n-Out for free food. Try explaining that one in a logical way that doesn't result in being stared at...

OK-The limo is absolutely awesome; Way coo.  Great work guys!  The burgers had to hit the spot too!  Who but a vegan doesn't wish they were there?  

Now, tell us how the show is going.  How about some news on the games and the future of Microsoft and  XBOX????  Love to hear more from you guys and a whole lot less from or about Major Nelson.

How come Major Nelson gets so much hoopla when he is hand fed all the work you guys are most likely busting your butts to make happen for everyone in the community...

Frankly, I'm not a Major Nelson fan and I'm pretty sick of hearing about him as if he is some kind of celebrity.  His opinion is just that--an opinion.

Lets give the mic to some other intelligent and articulate people out here in the community and see what happens--you might gain a whole lot more than you think.

Once again, I'd like to thank the GSB team, Major, Fox and Nic (On10) for all their help and generosity during CES 2008. Me and my gf (PMS Harlequin) truly appreciate everything you guys have done. Between access to the Keynote, the MS After Party at Pure and last nights jolly good times at In & Out, this was definitely the most fun I've had at CES in the past 3 years.

So what did the xbox team do at CES?

Never saw any xbox news or information.

Great time - thanks for pulling this all together. I was glad to get a chance to meet a few people at In-N-Out even though my plane was incredibly late.  Too bad I wasn't in time for the burgers but I was still glad to make it and meet some of the attendees.

Special thanks to John, Tony, Chris and Major (and all the other people that helped out!) for putting this together.  Its really cool to see you extend yourselves out to the Xbox community at large.

Next time - I'll fly in early and make sure I get a double-double.

I cant sign into xbox live. This makes four days already this month and when I can sign on its all lag. My friends also have this problem. Is this gona get fixed or better yet can i get a refund for the 1 year gold I just purchased before christmas. I cant even find a online match what good is xbox live without match making if i want to chat or video chat I have a pc. If I want to download a movie I have direct tv or cable. You guys add too many features and its lagin everybody its horrible!

OK we get it you guys had a good time at CES thats awesome. Now could you get back to work so the xbox live gamers can use the " service " they pay for. It would be awesome to see a little effort from you guys and wheres my free arcade? By the time you get live fixed you will owe me atleast two free games.

Aww i live in Vegas and that actually looks like the IN-N-OUT Burger i go to lol. I wish i was invited since i dont live far away. Guess it was to all the lucky people that went to CES. Now, how about some feedback on XBox Live? I, and the majority of the folks in my gaming group, have been unable to use XBox live with any kind of success since before Christmas. In the UK, after 10pm GMT, you may as well start playing offline.

Given that we haven't heard a dickey-bird (word, Cockney rhyming slang from the UK) for over a week, and that the Xbox.com status page tells me everything is well, is this the kind of performance I can expect from Live going forwards, at peak times anyway? Spinning circles in the blades? Getting continually disconnected from Live? Friends not showing up? Messages vanishing? COD4 and Halo3 online not playable? Arcade games and content failing to download? NAT status flipping between Open and Strict?

I would just like to know, so that I can make an educated decision on whether to renew XBox Live Gold membership for me and my two sons. Certainly, with the service in the state it has been since the second half of December, I don't think I'm getting value for money, and I know I'm not getting the support I need from any part of Microsoft - not the Community guys, not Xbox Live support.

Probably old news for anyone who has logged a call with XBox support, does anyone reading this here seriously think this kind of response is good enough?

The Gamerscore Blog peeps know about the Xbox Live problem. They cannot do anything as they are in a different department. They are experiencing the same problem. Post your beef elsewhere.

- Master Jego - Therre were some people there that were not CES attendees. The meet-up was an open invitation to all members in the Las Vegas area.

That looks like some good Burgers.  I never heard of in and out burger.  Do they have these in midwest/IL?

Don't expect MS to change the status of Xbox live on the support page.  They are getting sued in a class action lawsuit filed in Texas.  I'm sure they don't want to document more evidence about themselves or their service being messed up.

Unfortunately, it's a west side treat. I always try to stop there when I can get my butt to California. They have a "not-so-secret" menu of stuff, too.

Yes it looks real good.  Best fast food burgers I can get around my house is probably Culvers.  

Now the best burgers I've ever had is at a Sports Bar I am a Bar Tender at.   The Bar used to own the kitchen and we had crappy food, but about 3 months ago the owner decided to lease out the kitchen to a 3rd party.

My God are these Burgers awesome.  They are a Half-Pound after being cooked, the guy bakes his own Buns to fit the burger perfectly and he uses 95% lean ground beef.

Even More amazing is this guy sells a 5 pound Burger.  You should see the bun for this Burger, it is literally 12' round, about the size of a paper plate.  39 dollars for that 5 pouder though.  Definitely a group meal.

@Diva - You were truly missed. Harlequin and I asked for you, but apparently someones hamsters needed feeding...

@peterocc you say the gamerscore peeps cant do nothin about the live problems its a diffrent department. Since you know so much could you tell me what there department is in charge of? And what they getn accomplished besides this website.

@cronan thats sounds like a sorry excuse to me from xbox live support. I cant sign in right now at the moment. I know how you feel and honestly I dont see it getn much better because I started experiencing problems after the update. Theres too many features and the servers cant power it. thats my opinion. they say its because all the new live members that got 360s for christmas but these problems started before christmas. I think its gona take a new update to fix get rid of some of those useless features thats lagin it down.

@otto - Go to the about page and it's in bold letters "This blog is written by employees of Microsoft's Games Global Marketing team."

Xbox has already admitted to the problem and continuing to complain and make assumptions doesn't remedy the problem. The service has been getting better. I was finally able to play consistent matches on CoD4 all night last night.

@Cronan & Otto: Both of you guys must be pretty dense.  Marketing folks have nothing to do with the IT departments of any company.

Xbox Consumer Expo?


You know now that E3 has transitioned to a smaller (even more) industry-only based trade show than it has been in the past, it would have been great if MS would have had the foresight to established an Xbox consumer expo when the console first came out.

Just think… an entire CES/E3 type consumer based Xbox expo with aisle after an aisle with nothing but Xbox products…

They could have held the expo in Redmond, or used Xbox Live demographic information to pick a city with a high concentration of Xbox owners, or just rotated the expo between a few major cities (LA, SF, NY)

Of course the expo the first couple of years may have been a bit light on content and attendees, but now with the Xbox 360, Xbox Live marketplace content, Xbox Live Arcade titles and Xbox originals you would actually have to decide what content to exclude from the expo, simply because there wouldn’t be enough room to show everything. And as for attendees? With the millions of Xbox and Xbox 360 owners the Xbox Consumer Expo would probably be a packed 3-day major industry event by now.

Assuming they did an expo to kick off the Xbox at the end of 2001, 2008 would be the year of the 7th annual Xbox Consumer Expo. Oh well, opportunities lost…


Imagine what the Xbox Consumer Expo would be like today…

Xbox Gamers would register and receive a packet with a CES/E3 style name badge complete with the attendee’s name, gamer tag, and gamercard (at time of registration)

Expo floor display booths jammed pack with Xbox content, panel discussions, contests, industry insider guests speakers, the Xbox community team members and Games for Windows products all under one roof!

To cap it off you guys could even arrange for the top of the line food. I am not sure if you know this or not but In and Out Burger also has a service where they pull up in large mobile trailers and make the burgers right on the spot. It’s not uncommon for office buildings here in Los Angeles to have an “In and Out Burger Day” as a tenant  appreciation event.

In addition to earning some (much needed) goodwill with the rank and file Xbox ownership, MS could also take advantage of the event by holding closed door press briefings and other exclusive events for select Xbox community members (the type of industry insider people the men and women of the GSB reach out to and interact with regularly)  

I guess the questions now are is the Xbox brand here to stay? Will there be an “Xbox branded” successor to the Xbox 360 in some form?  

If so, it would be a shame to have to type this kind of post again in a couple years just before what would  have been a 10th annual Xbox Consumer Expo anniversary…

Come on MS, the Xbox gamers are ready, the people at In and Out Burger are ready, the Xbox brand appears here to stay - time to create an Xbox branded consumer expo and hopefully establish an annual tradition in the home entertainment industry for years to come.

@burnt toast and peterocc I know what these guys do I said accomplish.they do good stuff.I have no problem with them.Im gona keep posting here though and on every website that has anything to do with xbox 360. Because i got screwed out of over 1,000$ and none of my stuff works. people should be warned it could easily happen to them. I know you guys are xbox fan boys. If you get screwed then you might reconsider I use to be a fan boy myself. Now im warning people that three red lights means you lose everything purchased.Never get anything back. I know more about the 360 than 5 supervisors I talked to from microsoft.so if you calling me dense that doesnt say much about microsoft supervisors and managers.

I love xbox 360 . Just wish the red lights didnt come and I didnt lose all my downloads. I feel that I need to warn people and let them know about the problem. I have nothin against you guys. I just get angry when I cant play the games I purchased. I have done give up on geting any help from microsoft but I can warn others of the danger.

Looks, like a great time, but I got the red lights of doom that otto talks about. Its ridiculously painful, to see those red circles.

HDDVD Free fall?

Now that it’s being reported that Toshiba is slashing prices of the stand alone HDDVD players by 50% any chance we will see a corresponding price drop for the Xbox360 HDDVD add-on?
