More free games for the US?

The Yaris game isn't available worldwide because the game's portrayal and model options of the Yaris aren't available in all global markets, and the specific brand positioning of the Yaris is unique to the U.S. and Canada.

Yes! I've been watching the Puzzle Quest bandwaggon but wanted to wait until it his my favorite platform. XBLA! Woo Live play AND camera support! This looks like yet another XBLA game that my girlfreind can get into. The last games to really get her on the Xbox were Hearts and Pinball FX.

The yaris game brings back memories of Kool-Aid man for the Atari 2600. Free videogames to enforce branding... OH YEAH!

If a company wants to offer me a free game to promote their product, then I have no problem with that. The worst case is I don't like it and erase it. If it's good, then I'll think favorably of the car when I buy one next time.

I have recently changed my xbox language setting and got some achievements.

Then I realized those last achievements were PERMANENTLY in that new language, even though i returned the setting back to my original language.

So my achievements are in a language mess. I thought all the user interface was coherent.

Did anybody else notice this behaviour? Is it a BUG?

@ Marco - You should try the Xbox forums at xbox.com. Every question/bug has been reported there so I'm sure you would have a much greater probability of your question being answered there :)

As for Puzzle Quest, I'm very much looking forward to it. I've heard nothing but great things about it and I can't help but find myself getting sucked into the mini-hype. Can't wait to try it out :)

A mere 1200 points?  That is $15.  That is the highest price point ever for an Xbox Live Arcade game.  Lets just hope that we get the full game and not a demo like we did with Lumines Live.

If it's good, then I'll think favorably of the car when I buy one next time.

I have to ask, but is Puzzle Quest confirmed for a WORLDWIDE release? And by confirmed I mean in written in stone, underlined in red ink, and etched with a diamond cutter.

Is that the version that has customisable weapons and the ability to drive up walls?

It just sucks that we never any of these kinds of offers across the pond, I guess that's more down to the UK XBox team being lazy though.

1. Bankshot Billiards was also 1200 points. So, this "ties" with it for your purposes.

2. Lumines was still perfectly playable in the $20 incarnation. I know you guys think that everything on XBLA should be $10 tops, but if you add up everything you can get on XBLA, you get a game that's bigger than any of the three retail titles, and for a lower price.

3. See retail price. The regular price of Puzzle Quest was $30. It has since dropped to $20. This is $15, and you get all the usual extra accouterments that XBLA affords.

I just don't understand how cheap some of you people can be. I mean, I think the GH2 songs were incredibly overpriced, sure, and there is a lot of nickel-and-diming on XBLM, but it's like you guys expect to get everything under the sun for free. Get a grip. There are plenty of overpriced things, but Puzzle Quest is not one of them.

1200 points is HALF the cost of the Nintendo DS or PSP version of Puzzle Quest. Those ones goes for $30 but the XBLA version has achievements, is in HD, online Live AND camera support. That is pretty awesome for half the price of the DS and PSP

It's extremely unfortunate that I made a comment regarding the differences between the content on the Live service for the various territories, and for some reason it wasn't posted.
I politely "criticized" Microsoft, since I believe when things might need improvements the customers' feedback could be useful, but it seems non-100% positive feedback in not welcome on this blog.

Cool. Speaking of advergaming, any chance the Burger King games from last year could ever show up on XBLA? Haha. :)

Well, I just checked Marketplace, and I can see 2 Puzzle Quest themes I can buy.

I wonder if I'll be able to get the game...

I've been plenty critical of the Games division here for a variety of reasons and my posts have gone through.

But don't worry, I'm not sure you would have brought something new to the table beyond the usual mis-association of Gold prices overseas with content available to Silver members, forgetfulness of exchange rates, costs/time involved in localization, etc.

I certainly didn't brought up anything new, but I wasn't rude or anything so I'm surprised my post didn't show up, especially since I wasn't really complaining. I just made a polite comment in regards to John Porcaro's reply about the Yaris US exclusive free game (in which he "apologized" to the users from outside of the US/Canada for the Yaris game), in which I said that while the reasons for this game to be only available to NA are perfectly understandable and not Microsoft's "fault", the same cannot be said about Aegis Wing, which is a Microsoft game. While Microsoft certainly doesn't owe us anything, and the gift was a nice gesture on their behalf, by only making that game available to a portion of their customers gives out a bit of a bad impression (as if some clients/territories are more important than others), especially since recently they have been saying they will focus on the European market, so I said they should make a better effort to "unify" the releases between territories as much as possible, it would sure give out a better image of the service.

And additionally I mentioned another case in regards to the differences between territories (and something that doesn't even involve NA, since it's about differences between countries on the European continent), in which the Crackdown downloadable content wasn't made available for some reason in my local market, Portugal. I'm a big fan of the game and I'm unable to purchase the content (and access all achievements) because for some reason the extra content was released to every market except Germany (where the game was banned) and Portugal, with no explanation given. But instead of "whining" or insulting anyone I just asked that if for some reason they read my comment if they could try to fix this, or at least say anything about the possibilities of us getting the content, since unfortunately Realtime Worlds, the developers of the game, never replied to my (and other local users') emails regarding the issue.

@JCB: Ah, Portugal. Yeah, I guess I know what you mean now. I always see Portuguese people complaining in MajorNelson's blog about being excluded from this and that.

As far as the censorship thing goes though, I think you can see now that it's not censorship. Sometimes the server just barfs. Hey - it's a Microsoft product. :P I think even the Games people can laugh about that one.
