New Accessories Coming Next Week

The Xbox 360 Limited Edition Halo 3 Wireless Controllers and Headset, and the Xbox 360 Messenger Kit, will all be available in the US beginning Sept. 4.

From the media alert:

Gear up for the release of “Halo 3” on Sept. 25 with two new high-quality Xbox 360 Limited Edition Halo 3 Wireless Controllers. Legendary comic book artist and “Spawn” creator, Todd McFarlane, has masterfully designed these controllers featuring both the Covenant Brute and Master Chief™ themes.  Both fade and scratch-resistant controllers come with a Limited Edition “Halo 3” Master Chief™ figurine designed by McFarlane himself for an estimated retail price of $59.99 (U.S.).

The Spartan green and gold Xbox 360 Limited Edition Halo 3 Wireless Headset provides the mobility and communication essential for soldiers in their fight against the Covenant. With high-quality voice connections over Xbox LIVE, this accessory will be available for an estimated retail price of $59.99 (U.S.)

The Xbox 360 Messenger Kit, which includes a Chatpad and Xbox 360 headset for an estimated retail price of $29.99 (U.S), allows users to easily chat with friends or family on Xbox LIVE and Windows-based PCs. The automatically backlit Chatpad quickly connects to any Xbox 360 controller and can be easily controlled with simple thumb strokes so users can simultaneously chat and play games with ease.

I'm waiting for Best Buy to finally list this for sale so that I can use it with their $10 giftcard offer for Halo 3.

Calling it the Messenger Kit but the device itself the "Chatpad" is causing a bit of confusion, I think. I couldn't believe that GameStop wasn't taking preorders for this thing, until I realized just yesterday that it's actually called the "Messenger Kit". Then I found it right away.

Searching for Messenger on Best Buy and Circuit City, unfortunately, nets me only hits for a bunch of console-carrying bags that I will never buy. I've been searching on Chatpad too, just in case they use the other label.

I was going to get the headset and a controller, but I got a new tv instead so I am probably going to have to wait on this. Who knows I might get one anyways.

I'm desperately after the Chatpad, but it looks awful attached to a Elite pad, we need a black one!!!

Do the controllers come with rechargeable battery packs?  I'm tempted to buy one, but not if I have to put an ugly white or black pack on the back of it....

So....?  Anyone know?  If they don't come with a recharge kit, will that be available too?

How about black accessories?

It seems kinda odd that people buy the overpriced Elite version only to find accessories are released only in white or funky colors. Way to treat the customers that are spending more money on your products.

The Halo controllers are black on the back. The black recharge batteries will look fine.
