Thanks to everybody who showed up and made the event a blast.  Thanks to Jeff Bell and Knuckles Dawson for playing in my band and rocking out Tom Sawyer.  Thanks to John Porcaro for being awesome as usual.

There is no rest for the weary!

Looks like a fantastic time and great to see the love for the folks from the "Great White North"!  Can't wait to see the new releases for myself, but this kind of coverage is the next best thing!

Swag?  I didn't even get a sticker or button, never mind one of those godly Rock Band tee's.

X'07 was alright.  

The venue was hotter 'n hell (going out into the afternoon TO heat actually gave you a chill) and at least a full half, if not more, of the screens were shut down, some with the consoles/PCs having long since departed.  PGR4 cars were out front at first but seemed to have been hussled off quickly by the cops.  No PGR4 running inside.  Only PC game I saw running was C&C - all others were shut down.  

Halo 3 was okay, but the rumours are true - the graphics aren't really anything to write home about, especially in this day and age of killer game graphics (Gears, Bioshock,  upcoming COD4, others).  It just left me feeling really blasé about it.  I'm sure (I hope) the story is good but frankly, we've already seen the graphics (in Halo 2) and they're not tweaked all that much for this version... some, yes, but not what I expected at all.  By comparison, I was much more jacked by COD4 - now THAT is a game that is going to sell like a stack of hotcakes and be a ton o' fun to boot!  Can't wait for Nov 5!

Watching buddy demo Turok occupied a few moments of my time - yawn.  Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom looked pretty good.  Not familiar with the series, but this incarnation looked visually impressive.  I'm pretty sure my wife will enjoy it.

Didn't see much else that caught my eye.  NHL 2k8 looked great - very realistic - but sports games aren't my thing.  The kids were loving Rock Band which looked, as someone else said, like it would be a awesome, awesome teen party game.  Dads, get ready to cool off those credit cards.

The rest of the cool games I've been wanting to see were not available (or even powered, for that matter) to us mere plebs - media only.  Don't see what the point of that was supposed to be (closed event and all).

Food was really, really good and the free liquids of all kinds were welcome due to the sauna-like environment (I'm melting).

Overall, even though the diversity of content ended up being somewhat disappointing (which, I should point out, was not Microsoft's or Maro's fault - faulty structural wiring was ultimately to blame), it was good to go, hang for a while, meet some new folks, put faces to names, enjoy some free food and drinks and check out a few games.  

Why go to X'07 then?  Were you expecting booth babes and free Elites?  You got to try a bunch of games, free drinks, media access in a laid-back Canadian atmosphere.  Sorry you were disappointed, but Halo is far from crap.

The graphics on Halo are excellent.  Everything is crisp, clean, colouful, sharp, and simply is the Halo style.  Most importantly, Halo has so much going on at once:  Balanced gameplay, great networking (4P co-op, duh!), variety, crazy customization , vehicles, Havok physics everywhere, insane amount of weapons, etc.  

The Forge map editor/screw-around'r and the ability to save any sweet "Halo Moment" you are  part of, to either film or picture and share it with anyone on XBL is an amazing feature.  For aspiring machina folks, pro gamers, and anyone who wants to share a legendary replay with a bunch of friends in an online lobby before the next match...  Halo is it.
Bungie seems proud of Halo 3 and the game is speaking for itself.  I played it.  It isn't a re-invention, but it is a better game than Halo 2.  
People forget that you and your friends can play this whole game start to finish with your friends (or against them!).  That is not an easy thing to do I would think.  

Great event guys!!  I had a blast!  Glad to see pics of me kicking Ic0N's butt in GHIII made it here...  I'd like to thank Night Chicken and EasyMac for the distractions :)

Had a blast at X07.  Open bar + blackout = helluva good time.  We've had a ton of coverage this week over at theBBPS and it'll be continuing until tomorrow if anyone wants to check it out; http://www.thebbps.com

Most games were off limits to fans (media only) or were shut down due to the blackout (which, I've already said, was not MS's fault).  There were only a few that were running - less than half by my count.  Of those, many aren't my thing - sports, cartoon games, etc.  I'm sure they're well done (as I already said of NHL 2k8) but just aren't my cup of tea.

I got to try Halo 3.  And I stand by my statement - it's "okay".  It's nothing spectacular, nothing marvellous.  We've seen better graphics on many new games (I don't buy into the Bungie excuse-Forge as to why the graphics aren't eye-popping).  I expected more but it's really just a tweaked (visually) Halo 2.  After an hour of killing Covenants, you will probably forget you're just playing more of the same with some new toys thrown in.  Put it next to the new games out nowadays (and coming out) and if you're really honest with yourself, you can't help but agree.  Yes, it will be cool to see how the story ends and yes, I'm sure Forge will be interesting, however a real map editor - not just a weapon changer - is what we really want.

I was really excited about Halo 3... now I'm merely looking forward to it.  I'll be buying it but I don't foresee a lot of play beyond the first few weeks.  There are better looking games coming down the wire and those are getting me excited: COD4, Unreal Tournament 3, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, etc.
