When it comes to movies on marketplace I find it best not to pay attention to what's being released.  That way I can just randomly check marketplace and find some awesome movies.

Ummm...any info on the Forza 2 demo.  OXM said April....and it's now May 2nd.

We all have. Same rules apply to the video marketplace.

For now, let's ignore the whole "There are legal mountains to climb" argument since everyone wants to ignore that one.

Let's say Microsoft wants to bring the video marketplace to Europe. Let's say they prepare a presentation showing the benefits of having broadcast companies allow their content to be available over the marketplace. Let's say Microsoft even points out that these broadcast companies pull as much as 70% of the profits for taking their old products and putting them online. Its a win-win deal, right?

And yes. It is a win-win deal. However, companies don't always see far enough into the future to pick the winner. I know, you're probably thinking "Well, I don't understand why the BBC or Nippon Television won't allow their products to be shown over the marketplace." And the truth is, no one does.

But it just happens. I wouldn't have believed the excuses myself until last week. Need some proof? Go back and find news stories about Square Enix and their desire not to put up their catalogue on the Virtual Console. Its the same situation as the video marketplace. Very little work involved, plenty of money to be made for both parties, and everyone wins. Their reasoning? "We don't think our target market wants it"

Ding, ding, ding. Its not always Microsoft's fault. Rather than hammering them 100% of the time, you could find out who owns the rights to South Park in Britian or Sweden. Email them and ask them why they won't allow it online via the video marketplace.

@Kid, I take your point but don't imply that the BBC might have anything to do with it, when it comes to movies most are owned by American companies.  To customers, there's no good reason why any movie available on DVD shouldn't be available on Video Marketplace outside of North America.  High def. versions are a bonus.

Microsoft is doing themselves no favours by keeping quiet; if they made some announcements about what is planned and a broad timeframe for implementing it then it'd go a long way to reassuring customers.

Quite frankly at the moment, outside of North America, there is no real need for the Elite, or a 120GB HDD because there is 'bugger all' to download.  Let me qualify:

If someone went to the trouble of itemising the content on XBL Marketplace you would soon realise how very little content there is available to Europeans versus the wealth of content available to North American customers.

Microsoft should be doing all it can to capitalise on their first mover advantage and that extends into the Live marketplace, however if they're content to sit on their laurels and watch as Sony catches up (and they will) then they need to do more to persuade Europeans they aren't being treated like 2nd class citizens.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get Lost on Marketplace.  If it's up during Season 4 later this year, I would download every episode on my 360, rather than watching it on TV with commercials...commercials are terrible during Lost.  I know I can download from iTunes, but for some reason they feel compelled to have the fullscreen version as the only way to download.

Well, seeing on how my launch-month system finally went Tango Uniform last night, I guess I won't be purchasing this stuff for a little while.

Some nice stuff on the marketplace these days, but the pricing seems a little odd: episodes of Babylon 5 and the Hanna Barbera cartoons both come in at 160 points each. Why is it that a 7 minute cartoon costs the same as a 43 minute show? That can't be right, can it ???
