Boom Boom Rocket Coming Tomorrow

Bizarre Creations (the creators of Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved) and publisher Electronic Arts bring the all-new “Boom Boom Rocket” to Xbox Live Arcade.  The game will be available for download beginning Wednesday, Apr. 11, at 0900 GMT (2:00 a.m. PDT).

Boom Boom Rocket will be available for 800 Microsoft Points and will first launch in the U.S. Canada, and Europe. The title is rated “E” for Everyone (except in Germany, where it currently is unrated). The game also will be available in the near future in Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand.

From the media alert:

The addictive and original “Boom Boom Rocket” is the first music-rhythm game to appear on Xbox Live Arcade. Players trigger rockets to the beat of the music while traveling through a 3D cityscape. The better the player times the explosions, the more spectacular the fireworks effect. The fireworks are choreographed to 10 original tracks created by Ian Livingstone, who recently scored “Batman Returns” and “Project Gotham Racing 2.”

Game Features

  • Two single player gameplay modes – Normal and Speed
  • Two single console multiplayer head-to-head modes – Battle and Endurance
  • Practice Mode
  • Freestyle mode – No target line or scoring, just mash buttons to create cool fireworks shows
  • Earn up to 12 Achievements and 200 Gamerscore points

Sounds a lot like that fireworks game on one of the EyeToy games, except without the EyeToy.

Speaking of, why arent we getting any EyeToy style gaming for Vision Camera?  Its like its all forgotten, the camera is used in hardly any software at all.  The only good use it gets is when I plug it into my PC.

This is horse shiat guys.

Why do you treat your oceanic region customers with such disdain. We are not second class citizens and we surely pay enough to get your systems and software that we should get releases at the same time as the US/Canada subscribers.

It's just not good enough.

According to the website of the german rating organization USK, Boom Bomm Rocket does already have a rating (Rated for everyone).

Besides that: Great to see this title on Arcade today.

Matthew, I feel your pain, but I'm guessing this has more to do with your government's laws than anything MS wants to do.

"created by Ian Livingstone, who recently scored “Batman Returns”"

Don't you guys mean "Batman Begins"?

Man, I've been looking forward to another Bizzare title for a while now, and now that it's coming out - not available in Australia? That sucks. I'm guessing it hasn't gotten a rating by our OFLC (aust equivalent ESRB), but come-on.

Surely there has to be a way to get an obviously harmless game like this through, and it's been done with so many other games XBLA games in the past. How come this one hasn't gotten through? The only thing I can think of is that it's not our OFLC's fault but it's the LIVE publisher not jumping through the proper hoops for Australia yet, once again shafting us (we are so long-suffering).

This is not cool, and I'd like an explanation. I could understand a violent game taking longer for our OFLC to give a rating to, but there has to be another reason here.

*shrugs*

Another Aussie here, putting my hand up to complain, but I almost couldn't be bothered anymore.  I'm just going to stop visiting Major Nelson and Gamerscoreblog.  And no, I will not be renewing my Gold Live subscription when it's due for renewal in May.  I'm just not getting the value I signed up for.

How far away is it going to be until the Australian release? I know there must be any ins and outs but it seems such an innocent game that I don't know what the problem could be. I've been waiting for this title (and am still waiting for the Ninja Turtles arcade game) so hopefully it will hit down under sooner rather than later! :)

Catan isn't being "sat" on.

www.catanlive.com clearly states it will be May 2007 before its released.

Do some research before flying off the handle at folks that have absolutely nothing to do with content.

I didn't think we were getting a release this week. Pleasantly surprised. Give my regards to Mr. Trussel

I'm told that EA is working with the appropriate ratings boards to finalize ratings certificates for Boom Boom Rocket.  Once they have clearance, the game will be available.  I'll share more information with regards to timing as soon as it's available.

Hey John, try not to post about the GHII DLC.  Youre gonna get spammed like crazy.  Just check Major's site.  heh.

Thanks for the reply John.

It's a bit dissapointing that a massive company like EA (is there any bigger?) couldn't work with the appropriate ratings boards around the world to get a simultaneous worldwide release, yet a small company like The Behemoth could with Alien Hominid HD!
