Well, Sakura Con is now officially over, and it was INCREDIBLE.  Three days of anime videos, insanely cool costumes, panels, competitions, karaoke, and of course Xbox gaming!  Our playtest room was packed all weekend, as people kicked back with everything from Bejeweled 2 to Gears of War.  The Dance Dance Revolution pad took a serious beating, our Guitar Hero 2 controllers never had a chance to cool down, and the instant any player abandoned a chair, another player was hopping into the hotseat.  It was a blast.

Better still was the Dead or Alive 4 showdown on Saturday afternoon.  The action was fierce, and the tournament was positively dominated by Jo Jo Holman, who played Ayane throughout.  This DOA diva took out last year's champion in the second round, and went on to claim total victory.  It's always a joy to watch somebody who makes the game look so easy, and of course I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tickled that our big winner was a girl.  ^_~  Big thanks to all the players in both this event and Sunday's Gears of War tournament, and an even bigger round of thanks to everyone who took the time to sign up for our playtest program!  You guys are absolutely critical to our goal of making the best possible games.

Anyway, we snagged a bunch of photos, both of our game room and of cool costumes we saw wandering the halls.  Sadly, one photo I'd have liked to include didn't come out at all: some anonymous genius embroidered cross-stitch pictures of old 8-bit videogame characters for the convention's art show.  It was old-school, pixelated glory, and I couldn't resist buying a couple of them for my desk at work.  All in all, a great weekend!

(By the way, the photo on the bottom right is my favorite: two mages from a certain well-known Playstation game series have taken a member of our staff hostage.  Aiiieeee!)
