Fact Checking 101

Boy, someone over at Sony really needs to do some fact checking. Some of you may have seen Sony's recent console price comparision grid? Well, we here at Xbox wanted to make sure that you got the accurate facts…

Fact: PS3 has monkeys inside. (Monkeys required)
Fact: Yellow Ray + Blue Ray = Green Ray
Fact: The PS3 weighs 243 pounds
Fact: Xbox 360 + Ferrarri F430 = $168,404 (Ferrari Required)
Fact: Xbox 360 + Red Vines = Crazy delicious
Fact: Pizza is good. We like Pizza
Fact: Zune does not work as rear view mirror
Fact: My daddy can beat up your daddy
Fact: PS3 online network suffers outages due to giant crabs attacking Sony’s servers (yes, the Crab thing is getting old, but I think it’s still funny).

Ya I also heard that if you put a HDDVD in the PS3 tiny gremlins will jump out and beat you until you put in a blu-ray disc and burn the HDDVD (and for the gremlins, they're a 'required' purchase of $199.99)

Wow, I nearly rolled off my chair laughing - MS complaining about FUD?! Please, clean up your own backyard before complaining about others. This stuff from Sony is bullcrap, but we've had plenty to mull over regarding PS3 from these 'independent' MS blogs too! 1080p is irrelevant, Blu-ray is irrelevant, no 1080p games (or they'll look like crap), not to mention that FUD-tastic comparison article you guys circulated after E3 last year.

urrr okay it's not "required" as it says, and the price comparison is a LITTLE off I will grant you, but according to Toys R Us the comparison would basically be: Console $399 + HD DVD $199 + Gold $50 = $648.

So what's the problem?

I was the second site to report this story, and about 20 minutes after I posted a thread on Xbox.com linking my article, my site was attacked.

Anti-MS/Xbox sites on the internet are supposedly taking credit for the attack, real nice. :)

When are sony gonna be holding their stand up comedy festival? surely they've gathered up enough crazy sh!t since E3, the show would go on for hours with all the hilarious crap they've come out with.

And i think its time microsoft stopped playing nice, Sony have critisized ms every chance they've had while ms only defends themselves and retorts about things not being necssary. And sony have nothing new to offer with the PS3, can someone seriously hurry up and shut them up before an angry mob stoms their hq and kills em all???????

SHOCK! How dare Sony compare what you get with the PS3 vs what you have to buy with the 360 to get pretty much the same stuff.

Sony is even being very nice in that chart to:
A) Not mention more than 1 year of Live.
B) That the competitor HD-DVD is just as good as their very own Blu-ray.
C) Not mentioning HDMI.

what "constant attacks"? Xbox 1.5 (to dumb down what he really said) comments like over 1 year ago? Hmm that's about it. Just during the X06 conference Moore bashed Sony more times than I could count using my fingers.

"When we talk about delay we mean 5 days, not 5 months."

Yeah that explains why I couldn't play Dead Rising like over 1 month after US release or that the HD-DVD add-on won't come out in Europe this year (most likely). And that's just from the top of my head.

All companies talk BS about each other. Maybe Nintendo does it very rarely compared to the other two. ;)

What makes me scratch my head about this is how both MS and the MS fanboys seem to have gotten so upset about a pretty valid "Hey look what you get with PS3 for $599 and what you have to buy for 360 to get the same features"-chart after all what they say and do towards Sony. It's very immature to talk BS about another company (goes for everyone, including Sony) but it's even more immature to act like a baby about it when you get back what you gave. Even more so considering "Major" Nelsons 360 vs PS3 spec-chart he made up sometime after E3.

Oh well, all I've got to say about the matter.

PS. SC: DA rocks! Can't wait for R6: Vegas.

Sony can't be serious. Every single thing they listed besides the actual 360 console is OPTIONAL. What don't they get about that?? MS is not shoving a next gen media format down anyone's throats, unlike Sony. Let's just make one thing clear:

Xbox 360 premium + one game + one controller= $510
PS3 premium + one game + one controller = $699

Even easier for you retards out there:
To play 360 games: $299
To play PS3 games: $499

End of story.

Hi,

Look guys; Sony are bs artists, MS are bs artists and Nintendo are bs artists.

Concerning this matter however, Sony are stating that they are comparing value for its worth, however the way they imply it is to state that to have a gaming system that you require the add-ons MS has given you for freedom of choice.

Whilst true you need to spend $624 for the HD-DVD, Live add-on to the Premium XB360 and $600 for the PS3 premium, Sony's Live service is still unproven so this argument is totally void because Sony have not proven themselves just yet.

For the sake of the argument I'll say "Ok, I'm paying $624 for the 360 premium & $600 for the 60Gb PS3".
I get 2 dedicated drives with the 360, the HD-DVD player sits ontop of my 360 via USB, offers 1080p via VGA* Possibly will work with my Windows Vista and possibly with Windows XP o/s on my PC. Although not proven to be the format winner for next gen has movies supported on it and has the DVD forums backing, Blu-Ray is also unproven it does not have the backing of the DVD forum, has had alot of shitty reviews, could end up being an over priced gaming machine.

Until everything is proven, Sony can not state that they are offering better value here, the games look better on the 360 at the moment, when or if this changes I'll give the PS3 the one up on that, the movie format is not proven to be better yet, just larger, not enough to make it the winner considering HD-DVD has wowed all the AVS guys.

*VGA to DVI is possible btw.

Hmmmm, listen very carefully. The 360 is already out! If you were soooooo confident about shi*box, then why should you worry about what Sony says? People can go get a 360 right NOW! Yet, they aren't doing so in droves. It must be pretty embarrassing that the PS2 is out selling the 360. I call that a failure! Do you think that 360 sales will improve once the PS3 comes out? I think not.

Even if you made it simple and said that the Premium 360 cost $400 and the core PS3 cost $500. In the end you get for what you pay for (the BD-ROM player). And that's only $100 more. What do you expect things for free? Please...

The choice is there. Don't want a PS3. Fine. Get your 360/DVD9 player and be happy. Simple.

Next year this time, one thing will be certain... the PS3 will be outselling the 360, both in the console market and software side as well. No one will be bothered about the delays etc etc. Even the Wii will be outselling the 360 by then. And Microsoft can start with it's second year of losing $1.25 billion on their console, the same way that they lost on the original Xbox, just to make the fanboys happy and generate bad press about Sony and their pricing... but who cares, in a years time we'll see... :)

Wow, being an old Amiga guy, I can vouch for the fact that these arguments are timeless.

Why do you people care so much about ONE side or the other?

Read some reviews, do some product testing of your own and put your money down on something and hopefully enjoy it.

None of these arguments were ever won, they just wore out
(Mac vs Pc, Amiga vs Mac, Amiga vs Atari ST, Atari vs Intellivion.)
I could do a universal find/replace on any of these troll flame wars and simply substitute Xbox/Playstation with any of the terms mentioned above.

It's DONE people... pick a platform and move on.
Let us who enjoy one or the other get information and discuss it w/o boring tirades that add nothing to the converation.
