In the past several days, we’ve been following reports that some of  are having problems with their Xbox 360 consoles.  There is speculation that the recent console update might be the cause of the crashes.  As Larry's mentions, we're aware of it, and we're looking into it.

Whenever there's a technical quality issue, we investigate it thoroughly, and try to solve it quickly.  For this specific issue, we have a cross-group team with technical representatives from hardware, software, Xbox Live, repairs, and customer service looking into it.

What’s interesting about this reported issue is that we haven’t yet identified a single cause that can be reproduced, that can be linked to the console update. In fact, our product support staff reports that calls volume hasn’t increased since the update, nor have we received a single console back where the console update could be the cause of the problem.

We’re looking into every possible cause, from the way the console update is installed to the possibility that this is coincidental, and is only occurring now because of the recent release of several new games.
